Police find missing Fuquay-Varina boy

The Fuquay-Varina Police Department found Charles Levi McCoy, 13, on Thursday around 12:15 p.m.

Fuquay police found McCoy in Holly Springs behind a Harris Teeter. McCoy was not harmed.

McCoy was reported missing Wednesday when he walked away from Hilltop Free Will Baptist Church in the afternoon.

He left the church, at 10212 Fayetteville Road, around 4:30 p.m. and was upset about “a possible disciplinary issue,” according to a statement from the Town of Fuquay-Varina.

A witness told authorities that McCoy may have been on the side of the road of Optimist Farm Road and Bells Lake Road around 6:05 p.m. Wednesday. McCoy is described as white, with red hair, about 5 feet, 2 inches tall and about 130 pounds.

McCoy was last wearing a navy blue hoodie, navy blue khaki pants and black tennis shoes.

The Fuquay-Varina police and fire departments searched for the boy Wednesday evening and planned to continue Thursday.

McCoy has camping skills and may have camped in a wooded area overnight, according to the statement.

The Fuquay-Varina police are asking for anyone with information about the whereabouts of McCoy to call 919-552-3191.
