An autopsy was ordered, and results remain pending, the Friday update said.
“We are awaiting additional information from the autopsy, but from all the evidence our agents have at this point, we do not suspect foul play, but have not completely ruled it out in an abundance of caution to ensure we conduct a complete and thorough investigation into the tragic death of this young man,” said Chris Grey, a spokesman for the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about the case to contact the Criminal Investigation Command office at 910-396-8777.
