One person found dead at Raleigh apartment fire

Officials found one person dead at a Raleigh apartment complex that caught fire Sunday morning, according to Raleigh police.

About 30 firefighters arrived at Summit Avent Ferry Apartments in Raleigh, near Lake Johnson, around 7:20 a.m. to battle the fire that was eventually contained to one apartment building, ABC 11 reported.

Firefighters discovered the body of a deceased male in that apartment, Raleigh police said.

Raleigh police received a call from the 1000 block of Avent Hill around 7:27 a.m. and also responded to the scene.

Several apartments in the 1000 block of Avent Hill were evacuated, but residents were allowed to return the same day.

The Raleigh Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
