Orange County Schools closed Tuesday, others on 2-hour delay

Orange County Schools are closed Tuesday after first issuing a 2-hour delay due to icy road conditions during the morning commute.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office reported there were a few icy spots on the roads early Tuesday morning.

Several school other systems in the Piedmont will open two hours later than normal Tuesday because of the possibility of icy roads.

Alamance-Burlington Schools, Franklin County Schools, Granville County Schools and Wake County Schools will all be operating on a two-hour delay Tuesday.

Slick spots and hazardous road conditions are possible Tuesday morning for Piedmont counties in Central North Carolina, the National Weather Service in Raleigh said early Tuesday.

Temperatures will be the coldest just before sunrise, and a delayed departure in the morning commute is advised, the weather service said.
