The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a dense fog advisory for the Triangle and most of Central North Carolina until noon Tuesday.
A dense fog advisory means visibility often will be a quarter mile or less, the weather service said.
Travel during the commute may become hazardous. Drivers should not use high-beam lights, which can cause a glare and might make it more difficult to see ahead.
Motorists should keep a moderate following distance, be prepared for a change in traffic patterns and use more caution at intersections and highway ramps where accidents are more likely, the weather service recommends.
