The Town of Cary has closed Waldo Street from Academy Street to Walker Street though winter 2018.
The town said the closure will ensure safety during an expansion project at First United Methodist Church.
The good news is that Cary will allow local traffic access to the parking lots along Waldo Street, including the post office parking lot and the public parking lot at the corner of Waldo and Walker streets.
Separately — and weather permitting — the town plans to close the NW Cary Parkway bridge over Black Greenway for 60 days starting June 11.

The town encourages drivers traveling through the area to use alternate routes, including the signed detour along Norwell Boulevard, Weston Parkway and North Harrison Avenue.
The closure is part of the bridge rehabilitation project.
