A convicted sex offender was arrested Monday on felony charges of taking indecent liberties with a child and indecent exposure to a child under 16 years old last month.
Wayne Elliott Wilkerson, 58, is listed in the state sex-offender registry as living on South Street in Durham.
Police said an 11-year-old girl told officers that a man had exposed himself to her at a Taco Bell restaurant on North Duke Street.
A charge of felony indecent exposure requires that the person to whom the suspect exposed himself or herself was under 16 and that the incident happened in a public place.

Wilkerson was put on the sex-offender registry in October 2014. The registry says he was listed because he had been convicted in 2010 of felony indecent exposure in May 2009 and convicted in May 2012 of taking indecent liberties with a minor six months earlier.
He was convicted at the same time of being a sex offender on a premises where children likely would be and served 29 months in prison.
Those convictions were in Durham County.
Wilkerson was convicted in Alamance County in June 2015 of misdemeanor indecent exposure the previous month. At the time, he lived in Mebane.
