What to do during a tornado
A tornado warning issued by the National Weather Service has expired and is now considered a storm warning.
The tornado warning was issued about 6:45 p.m. for southern Wake County, northern Harnett County and eastern Chatham County. It expired at 7 p.m.
Wake County remains under a severe thunderstorm warning until 7:45 p.m.
A flash flood warning for Durham County is in effect until 9:30 p.m.
A line of strong thunderstorms developed southwest of the Triangle, spurring the National Weather Service warnings shortly after 6:30 p.m., according to ABC11’s First Alert Doppler.
WRAL reports a confirmed tornado was seen 8 miles southwest of Fuquay-Varina. Its impact is unclear, WRAL reports.
