Police in Raleigh are investigating a single-car wreck on Capital Boulevard near the Beltline on Wednesday that killed the driver.
Raleigh police were called to the scene at 12:40 p.m., investigators say. When they arrived, they found a car that had struck a tree, according to police.
Preliminary information indicates the car was traveling northbound on Capital Boulevard at a high rate of speed, police say. The driver tried to turn onto the Interstate 440 eastbound ramp and lost control of his vehicle, according to police. The car left the roadway and hit the tree.
Police have not released the driver’s identity and provided no additional information.
