Comedy in Smithfield

The Neuse Little Theatre will present the comedy “Seniors of the Sahara” in September at The Hut on Front Street in downtown Smithfield. Show times are 8 p.m. Sept. 11-12, 3 p.m. Sept. 13 and 8 p.m. Sept. 18-19. Tickets are $13 in advance and $15 at the door. For reservations, call 919-934-1873. Chorale seeking voices for Christmas show

The Johnston County Chorale is seeking high school students and adults to sing in its Christmas show. Starting Aug. 31, registration is from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Mondays at First Baptist Church, 202 S. Fourth St., Smithfield. Note: The chorale will not meet Sept. 7. Auditions are not required. The registration fee is $35 for adults and $25 for students. Youth theater to offer acting classes

This fall, the Clayton Youth Theater will offer beginning acting for middle and high school students. Barbette Hunter will teach the class, which will meet Sept. 8-Oct. 27. The cost is $160 for middle school students and $190 for high school students. Register online at

Drawing for adults

The Clayton Parks and Recreation Department will offer a drawing class for adults. A morning session will begin Sept. 15 and will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesdays. An evening session, also starting Sept. 15, will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays. The cost is $40 for Clayton residents and $55 for nonresidents. For more information, call 919-553-1550.
