Faith Notes: Dec. 13

Revival services are scheduled for 7 p.m. Dec. 28-Jan. 21 at Mt. Calvary Holiness Church of Deliverance, 114 Lakeview Drive, Four Oaks. Pastor Danta Covington will speak.

The children of Pisgah Baptist Church will present “An Unplugged Christmas” at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, at the church, 3689 N.C. 210, Smithfield. The church’s adult choir will present “Christmas in His Presence,” a cantata, at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20.

The youth group of Believers Baptist Church will present a Christmas drama at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, at the church, 100 Southerland Road, Clayton. A candlelight service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23.

A “Service of Hope and Remembrance” is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, at Wilson’s Mills Christian Church, 179 Fire Department Road. This reflective worship service is a chance to slow down and to remember the hope of the season, the church said in a news release. Elements of the service will include scripture, reflections, singing, the sharing of Communion and the opportunity to say aloud names of loved ones who have died. Faith Baptist Church, located at 204 Ricks Road in Selma, will hold its Christmas cantata and children’s program at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, at the church. Admission is free.

The Sunday School of Bentonville Disciples of Christ Church will present its Christmas program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, at the church, 8566 Devil’s Racetrack Road, Four Oaks.

The adult choir of Stones Creek Advent Christian Church will present “Under a Starry Sky” at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, at the church, 343 Woods Crossroads Road, Benson. Refreshments will follow. Admission is free. The pastor’s annual Christmas story is scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 20. The children of Stones Creek will present the play “A Tree Lot Christmas” at 6 p.m. Dec. 20. Refreshments will follow.

A “Journey to Bethlehem” is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 13 in Wesley Hall at Centenary United Methodist Church, 140 E. Market St., Smithfield. The church will re-create Bethelem as it was during the birth of Christ. Visitors will meet the shepherd, then the centurion, who will lead them to the census taker. They will go to the Roman tax collector and Herod before entering the Town of Bethlehem, where a woodcarver, potter, fisherman and basket weaver will be at work. Buy some unleavened bread, hot drinks or fruit from vendors in the marketplace. Step into the synagogue and speak to the rabbi. Visit with Mary, Joseph and the Baby Jesus as angels sing “Away in the Manger.” Admission is free; however you might want to buy bread from a vendor or give to the Bethlehem town beggars. Proceeds will go to the Smithfield Rescue Mission.

Here is the schedule of Christmas services at Horne Memorial United Methodist Church, 121 E. Second St., Clayton: Moravian Love Feast, 9:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, in the fellowship hall; choir’s Christmas cantata, 8:30 and 11 a.m. Dec. 20 in the sanctuary; and Christmas Eve services, 4 p.m. in the fellowship hall for children, 6 p.m. traditional service in the sanctuary and 8 p.m. traditional service with Communion, also in the sanctuary. On Sunday, Dec. 27, the church will hold a contemporary worship service at 9:45 a.m. in the fellowship hall and a traditional worship service at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary. A performance of the play “Felix Finds Christmas” is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, at Burnell Baptist Church, 3720 Old School Road, Four Oaks. The church will present a Christmas cantata at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13.
