The town will kick off a series of free monthly concerts on Thursday as rockers Crush take the stage.
The Follow Me 2 Fuquay-Varina concerts will be held one Thursday a month, with a break during the cold winter months.
Shows are planned through October, and organizers expect to re-start the series in April.
“We’re hoping this is an event that’s well-attended,” said Jonathan Cox, the town’s parks and recreation director.

The idea stemmed from the town’s concert held two days before the annual Celebrate Fuquay-Varina event every January. Despite the cold, Cox said, that concert typically draws a few thousand people.
The Follow Me 2 Fuquay-Varina concerts will be held at 6 p.m. at Centennial Square, at the intersection of North Main and East Academy streets.
The shows will hopefully bring more people downtown, and add another cultural aspect to the area, Cox said.
“This is an ‘alive-after-5’ kind of event – trying to keep people downtown after business hours,” he said.
Concert goers cannot bring pets or coolers to the shows, although a number of local businesses will sell food and drinks, including Aviator Brewing Company and Draft Line Brewing.
People are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs for seating. The first 500 to show up will also receive a free T-shirt or bumper sticker.
