Cary Band Day results
The Panther Creek High School Marching Band won first place overall in the three large classes of bands at Cary High School’s Cary Band Day. The band also earned Brass Line of the Day, Drum Line of the Day and Best Pit Crew.

Dan Lockwood, a teacher at Reedy Creek Middle School, won the Ann Watkins Middle School Award for Distinguished Service.
Green Hope student artwork earns award
Artwork by Green Hope High School students Averie Bunce, Katie Dorn, Bria Goeller, Jared Kengla, Kylee Larsen and Izza Qureshy won seventh place in the N.C. State Fair.
Green Hope High School will present Bram Stoker’s “Dracula,” adapted for the stage, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, through Saturday, Nov. 15, in the school auditorium, 2500 Carpenter Upchurch Road, Cary. Tickets are available at the door for $8 for adults and $5 for children and students (including college students) with identification.
Cary High School students will present “IMProv” shows monthly from November through May. Shows start at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium at 638 Walnut St., Cary. Shows will be on Friday, Nov. 14; Friday, Dec. 12; Friday, Dec. 23; Friday, Feb. 13; Thursday, March 19; Friday, April 17; and Friday, May 15. Admission costs $2. The Middle Creek High School PTSA will host the third annual Winter Wonders holiday craft and vendor fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at 123 Middle Creek Park Ave., Apex.

Photo essay competition
The Cary Photographic Artists will sponsor a photo essay competition for Wake County students in ninth through 12th grade. Cash prizes range from $50 to $150, and the competition will end with an exhibit. For details, go to bit.ly/1kTh4U4. Voice of Democracy Program
