The Celebrate Fuquay-Varina concert scheduled for 8 p.m. today in downtown Varina has been postponed due to the threat of severe weather.
The concert featuring Spare Change, will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 pm Wednesday on Broad Street.
Spare Change based in LaGrange, performs music ranging from the contemporary to classic with a bit of funk, country and beach music.
The severe weather hazards are damaging wind gusts up to 65 miles per hour and hail the size of golf ball, according to the National Weather Service. The threat appears to be the highest between 3 and 10 p.m., according to the alert issued for several N.C. counties including Wake and Durham.

The Celebrate Fuquay-Varina festival will be held as planned from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday in downtown Fuquay.
The festival is held annually the first weekend in June. Each year the festival, which features food, arts and crafts, classic car show and live entertainment, draws about 12,000 people.
On Saturday, Main Street will be closed to motor traffic from Academy Street to Spring Street. Side streets adjacent to this area will also be closed.
