SAS, Kimley-Horn &Associates make Fortune best-of list

2 Cary companies make ‘Best’ list

Business software giant SAS ranked No. 4 on Fortune magazine’s annual list of the best U.S. companies to work for.

It was the 12th time that the Cary-based company cracked the top 10, but it fell two spots from last year’s No. 2 ranking.

Google topped the list, which was released Thursday.

Cary-based design consulting firm Kimley-Horn and Associates ranked No. 25 on this year’s list. It jumped 48 spots from No. 73 last year.

SAS boasts that its turnover rate is below 5 percent, compared to the industry norm of more than 16 percent.

Kimley-Horn, which has a presence in Raleigh as well as Cary, plans to consolidate those two offices when it moves its downtown headquarters to downtown Raleigh next year. The company will maintain an office in Durham as well.
