2 Durham men charged in Cary break-ins

Police have arrested two Durham men in connection with a series of break-ins at businesses this month.

Charles Cannady Jr., 44, who goes by “BooBoo,” according to police reports, was arrested along with Li-Teh Sun Marks, 40, on charges including felony breaking and entering and felony larceny.

The two are accused of breaking into seven businesses between Nov. 2 and Nov. 8.

The Cary Police Department and the Wake County Alcoholic Beverage Commission said the men broke into:

▪ Town and Country Hardware on Kildaire Farm Road, Cary, where $187 worth of razors and fragrances, in addition to $330 worth of tools, was stolen.

▪ Preston Plaza Optometry on Northwest Cary Parkway, Cary, where $1,000 worth of sunglasses was stolen.

▪ Ulta on Crossroads Boulevard, Cary, where $479 worth of perfume was stolen.

▪ The ABC store on Town Center Drive, Raleigh, where 10 bottles of liquor worth $459 were stolen.

They are also charged with breaking into three other businesses in Raleigh and Cary but not taking anything.

Cannady was separately charged with obtaining property by false pretense.

Marks was separately charged for an October incident in Durham. Police say that in the presence of two young children, he deliberately backed his car into the car of a woman he was in a relationship with. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with a minor present, as well as hit and run.

Both men have criminal records for drug and property crimes dating back more than two decades. They were being held Saturday in lieu of $100,000 bail.
