The Hanks of Cary, NC were married at the Trinity Episcopal Church, Covington, Kentucky, on February 19, 1966.Carol A. Ellison was born in Manchester, Ohio to James and Helen Ellison. Edward J. Hanks Jr. was born in Covington, Kentucky to Edward Sr. and Lillian Hanks. After honeymooning in Michigan, the couple moved to Cary in 1967. Carol is a retired registered nurse. Ed was employed by the US EPA, retiring after 41 years of service. Both enjoy attending their grandchildren’s activities and spending time with friends and family at their house on Lake Gaston. The Hanks have two children: E.J. Hanks of Fuquay Varina, N.C. and Leigh Ann (Robert) McGarrigle of Sayerville, NJ. They also have two grandsons: Andrew and Austin Hanks of Fuquay Varina, N.C.The couple will celebrate 50 years of marriage with their original attendant, Carol’s sister, and husband of Cincinnati, Ohio, and the original best man and ushers with their spouses, all from Kentucky, with a special dinner at Walt’s Hitching Post in Kentucky. They will also revel with family at Forest Hills Care Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, residence of the mother of the bride, Helen Ellison.
