Tutoring program seeks volunteers

The Kirk Outreach After-School Learning Academy at Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian Church needs volunteers to help first- and second-grade students from Briarcliff Elementary School with their homework one day or more per week. The program is 3:45-5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, at the church at 200 High Meadow Drive, Cary. For information, call 919-467-4944 or email churchoffice@kirkofkildaire.org.

Food pantry

The Point Church food pantry gives bagged groceries, a hot meal and clothing to families in need from 11 a.m. to noon Saturdays at 1503 Walnut St., Cary.

Book fair

The Methodist Children’s Center of Cary First United Methodist Church will host the annual Scholastic book fair from 8:45-9:45 a.m. and noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, through Thursday, Nov. 20, in the Templeton Building, room 118, 121 Waldo St., Cary. Blood drives

Surviving the Holidays

White Plains United Methodist Church will host Surviving the Holidays, a program for people coping with grief during the holiday season, from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 22, in the chapel at 313 SE Maynard Road, Cary. Thanksgiving Fellowship Meal

Sunrise United Methodist Church’s Thanksgiving Fellowship Meal will be at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, at 5420 Sunset Lake Road, Holly Springs. Bring a side dish or dessert to share.

Thanksgiving worship service and meal

Christ the King Lutheran Church will host a Thanksgiving worship service at 10:30 a.m. and a meal at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, at 600 Walnut St., Cary. Bring a side dish or dessert to share. To RSVP, call 919-467-8989.

Unified worship service

White Plains United Methodist Church will host a unified worship service beginning with music at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, at 313 SE Maynard Road, Cary. Lunch and the annual Advent Fair will follow. There will be a show from Hands for God Puppet Ministry, activities and crafts for all ages. There will be an Advent wreath station for adults. Christmas Party

Mosaic Church will bring in five tons of real snow for sledding at a Christmas Party from 6-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at 270 Towerview Court, Cary. There will also be bounce houses, homemade food and more. The event is free. For details, go to www.madebeautiful.com.

Alcoholics Anonymous

Holly Springs United Methodist Church hosts “There is a Solution” Alcoholics Anonymous group meetings from 7-8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at 108 Avent Ferry Road.

Sisters in Support

Family support ministry meeting

A family support ministry organized by Mary Williams-Farrington and the Pardoned by Christ Ministry meets the first, second and fourth Tuesday of every month at The Point Church, 1503 Walnut St., Cary. The ministry provides support for people who have been incarcerated or who have or have had an incarcerated family member. Overeaters Anonymous

Celebrate Recovery for Women

Celebrate Recovery for Women meets at 6 p.m. every Friday at the homes of members of North Cary Baptist Church. The group helps women with hurting, hangups and habits. Details: 919-469-8023.

Brown Bag Ministry

The Brown Bag Ministry, which feeds more than 1,400 people a week, is looking for middle- and high school-age volunteers. The group meets at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Apex about 9 a.m. Saturdays. Volunteers prepare bagged meals and hand them out in Raleigh. The group usually finishes by 1 p.m. Details: www.brownbagministry.org.
