‘East Meets West’

“East Meets West,” an exhibit of Chinese brush painting by Loretta Moskal and her students, will be on display through Friday, Feb. 28, at the Village Art Circle, 200 S. Academy St., Suite 130, Cary. For details, go to www.villageartcircle.com.

‘A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court’

The Cary Arts Center will host performances of “A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, and Saturday, March 1, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 2, at 101 Dry Ave. Advance tickets cost $10 for adults, $8 for students and seniors and $5 for ages 5 and younger at the Cary Arts Center box office or www.etix.com. All tickets at the door cost $10.

Teen Amazement Show

Cary’s teen talent show and fundraiser for the town’s Relief for Recreation Fund and the Friends of the Page-Walker history scholarship program will be from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, March 2, at The Cary theater, 122 E. Chatham St. Tickets cost $10 for teens and adults and $5 for ages 10 and younger at the Cary Arts Center box office, 101 Dry Ave., or at www.etix.com.

Exhibition opening

The Umstead Art Gallery will host a reception for painter and printmaker Peter Roux’s new exhibit from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at The Umstead Hotel and Spa, 100 Woodland Pond Drive, Cary. Roux’s work will be displayed through Saturday, May 31. For details, go to www.theumstead.com.

VocalMotion performance

VocalMotion, a show choir sponsored by SAS in Cary, will present its 22nd annual performance from Thursday, March 6, to Sunday, March 9, in the Building V auditorium on the SAS campus, 501 SAS Campus Drive. Circus music

The Big Top Circus Band directed by Jim Hammerle will play circus music from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Friday, March 7, at the Cary Arts Center, 101 Dry Ave. Tickets must be purchased in advance for $8 for adults and $5 for children at www.etix.com.

Small Treasures Juried Exhibit

The sixth annual Small Treasures Juried Exhibit of the Cary Gallery of Artists will be from March 27 to April 19. Entries and fees are due by 11:59 p.m. Friday, March 7. For details, go to www.carygalleryofartists.org.

‘Iveria’

The Halle Cultural Arts Center will host “Iveria,” with music and dance performances from the country of Georgia, at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at 237 N. Salem St., Apex. Tickets cost $12 for adults, $7 for ages 16 and younger at www.etix.com.

N.C. composers concert

The Halle Cultural Arts Center will host a concert of work by contemporary North Carolina composers, including Jacob Groff, Tom Lohr and Mark Scerce, at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 9, at 237 N. Salem St., Apex. A reception will follow the concert. Tickets cost $12 for adults, $8 for students at www.etix.com.

‘Basant Bahar’

Hum Sub will present “Basant Bahar,” a tribute to the ancient Indian cultural ideology of panchabhootham, that everything is made up of five elements of water, fire, earth, air and space, at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 9, at the Cary Arts Center, 101 Dry Ave. Admission is free. ‘Spring Showcase’

The Cary Ballet Company and The 3D Project’s “Spring Showcase” of jazz and ballet dance will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 14, and 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at the Cary Arts Center, 101 Dry Ave. Tickets cost $15 at www.etix.com.

En Plein Air Paint-Off

The third annual En Plein Air Paint-Off will be from 2:30-7 p.m. Friday, April 11, during Art After Dark in downtown Fuquay-Varina. Artists will paint the local landscape.

Apply to participate in the contest by Friday, March 14. Send an online application and three images of original artwork to director@fuquay-varinadowntown.com. The contest is open to all skill levels, from high school students to professionals. For more information, go to www.fuquay-varinadowntown.com.

A public auction of the paintings will be from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, June 7, on Vance Street. The top three winners’ paintings will be enlarged and placed on brick walls in the town’s historic district and added to the public art program organized by Fuquay-Varina Downtown and sponsored by Bob Barker, Inc.

Youth Art Show

The Halle Cultural Arts Center’s Youth Art Show will run through Friday, March 14, at 237 N. Salem St., Apex.

Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition

Cary Visual Art’s Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition will begin July 18 and run though June 12, 2015, with the Best in Show winner announced July 18. There is an honorarium of $1,000 each for up to 12 finalists and $3,000 for one Best in Show winner. To participate in the contest, enter with a $35 fee by Friday, March 21, at www.caryvisualart.org/programs/ose/2014/Application. For details, go to www.caryvisualart.org.

Marvelous Music series

As part of the third Marvelous Music season, performances will begin at 7 p.m. at the Cary Arts Center, 101 Dry Ave. Tickets are $26 for adults, $24 for seniors and $88 for a pack of four.

The Cary Arts Center will host Crafty Connection, a series of arts and crafts activities for ages 2-12, before each concert. Activities, schedules and prices are online.

‘King David’

The Concert Singers of Cary, Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle and narrator Ira David Wood III will perform Arthur Honegger’s “King David” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at the Cary Arts Center, 101 Dry Ave. Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and free for students of all ages at www.concertsingers.org.

Pizza and a movie

The Halle Cultural Arts Center will serve pizza and show the movie “Frozen” at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at 237 N. Salem St., Apex. Tickets cost $5 at www.etix.com.
