Cary students serve as White House interns
Christopher Jasinski of Cary, a student at American University, and Ashlyn Sanders of Cary, a student at UNC-Chapel Hill, are participating in the White House Internship Program this spring. For information about the program, go to www.whitehouse.gov/about/internships.
Cary Boy Scout earns Eagle Scout
Chadwick Gillan of Cary, the son of Brian and Sophia Gillan, earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Boy Scouting. Chadwick led a group building four community garden beds at Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian in Cary. He is a member of Troop 213 and a junior at Cary High School.

Cary Girl Scout earns Gold Award
Sonum Devi Tharwani of Cary, the daughter of Haresh and Veena Tharwani, earned the Gold Award, the highest achievement in Girl Scouting. Sonum worked with SAFEchild, a child abuse prevention agency, to make brochures, use social networking sites and speak at events to teach people about child abuse and the services that SAFEchild offers. She also led several local groups to make care kits for children being served by SAFEchild. She is a member of Troop 1842 and is a student at Cary Academy.
Holly Springs Girl Scout earns Silver Award
Veronica Connors of Holly Springs, the daughter of Mark and Andrea Connors, earned the Silver Award, the second highest achievement in Girl Scouting. Veronica made produce information cards for the Holly Springs Food Cupboard and painted wooden stands to display the cards. She is a member of Troop 1145 led by Allison Phillips.
