Girl Scouts to hold pet day in Fuquay-Varina

Girl Scout Troop 199 will hold a free pet day, Pawz 4 a Causz, to raise pet awareness and need within the community, from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at Carroll Howard Johnson Environmental Education Park, 301 Wagstaff Road, Fuquay-Varina. Registration begins at 1:30 p.m.

The family fun-packed event will include a 2-mile walk, non-monetary pet donation drive, games and pet contests. All pets are welcome to participate in the Best Dressed, Owner/Pet Look Alike and Best Trick contests. Water and snacks will be provided.

Donation items requested for the donation drive are: kitten food, puppy food (dry), kitten and puppy milk replacer, cat litter and scooper, paper towels, treats, bleach, leashes and collars, newspapers, cat and dog toys, pet brushes and combs, pet shampoo, pet crates, spray cleaners and bath towels. Pet food of high-quality is requested, such as IAMS, Purina, and ScienceDiet, where meat is the first ingredient listed.

Yates Mill DAR seeking relatives of veterans buried at Hillcrest

The Yates Mill Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will hold a Wreaths Across America ceremony on Dec. 8 at Hillcrest Cemetery.
