Faith notes: May 20

Classes

The Cary Church of Christ will hold a Bible class called “The Longest Day: An In-depth Look at the Last 24 Hours of the Life of Christ” at 9:30 a.m. Sundays at 6640 Tryon Road. Another class called “Answering Atheism” will be at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Both classes will last until the end of May.

A parenting class, “Help & Hope for Single Parents,” will be held on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. through May 21 at Sovereign Grace Church, 401 Upchurch St., Apex. Childcare will be provided. For information, visit www.singleandparenting.org.

Concert

Fuquay-Varina United Methodist Church will hold a spring handbell concert at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 20, at 100 S. Judd Parkway S.E. The handbell choirs of Fuquay-Varina United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church of Fuquay-Varina and Sunrise United Methodist Church will perform. Child care is available. Scholarships

Saint Francis United Methodist Church in Cary awarded ten educational scholarships to high school seniors.

Two Holloway Scholarships of $1,000 each were presented to Winston Holloway, son of Gloria Harris of Raleigh and Jay Holloway of Raleigh; and Jeffrey Oestereich, son of Kim and Bill Oestereich of Apex.

The Gregory Allen Memorial Scholarship of $1,000 was presented to Rolf Frazier, son of Heather and Rob Frazier of Holly Springs.

The Kempin Music Scholarship of $1,000 was presented to William Booker, son of Katherine and Alan Booker of Apex.

Other award recipients who received $300 each included: Drew Butkowski, son of Dorena Kohrs and Charles Butkowski; Alex Calloway, son of Cathy and Steve Calloway; Shelby Caulk, daughter of Sally and Kim Caulk; Daniel Decker, son of Lisa and Tim Decker; Sara Keith, daughter of Bonnie and Alan Keith; and Jacob Woodlief, son of Claire Cox-Woodlief and David Woodlief.

The recipients all met the selection criteria which included church membership, excellent academic achievement, active involvement in church and community programs and participation in extracurricular activities at their respective high schools.

Services

Realhope Christian Church will hold a special outreach worship service from 10 to 11:15 a.m. Sunday, May 20, at Herbert Akins Elementary School, 2255 Herbert Akins Road, Fuquay-Varina.
