Concert, art show at Fuquay-Varina festival

The Celebrate Fuquay-Varina Festival will be held Friday and Saturday in downtown Fuquay-Varina.

A concert to kickoff the festival will begin at 8 p.m. Friday in the Varina Downtown District. Spare Change will perform. Bring a chair.

The actual festival will begin the following day at 10 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m. in the Fuquay Downtown District. There will be free entertainment, children’s rides, inflatables and a classic car show.

The arts festival, Celebration of the Arts, will be held as part of the festival. Many categories of original art work will be represented including jewelry, basketry, clay and ceramic creations, soap, candles, decorative painting, fine art painting, garden art, metal work, furniture, drawings and folk art.

A live public auction of paintings from the recent En Plein Air Paint-off will take place at noon under the community tent.
