Faith notes: June 24

Camps

White Plains United Methodist Church will hold Bridge Mission Days from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, June 28, Tuesday, July 31, and Thursday, Aug. 23, at 313 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary. Designed especially for children and youth in grades four to eight, these daylong programs will emphasize service and fellowship. A summer writing camp for ages 8-12 called “Color Your Life With Words” will be from 9 a.m. to noon July 16-20 at Peace Presbyterian Church, 1777 W. Chatham St., Cary. Instruction, interactive games and a field trip will encourage young writers. Cost is $130 and includes all supplies; register by July 1 and a $5 discount will be applied. Concert

An organ concert featuring Dr. Jeremiah Martin of Duke University will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 24, at Ambassador Presbyterian Church, 1010 Schieffelin Road, Apex. Visiting musicians and music enthusiasts will have the opportunity to participate in an open console session immediately following the concert. Refreshments will be served. New Pastor

The Rev. Leonard Fairley has been appointed senior pastor at Saint Francis United Methodist Church in Cary and will begin on July 1. Al Gwinn, resident bishop of the North Carolina Conference, read Fairley’s appointment and those of other local church pastoral changes on the last day of the North Carolina Annual Conference on June 16.

Fairley is a native of Laurinburg and recently served seven years as the Rockingham District Superintendent. He is a graduate of Pfeffer University and Duke University.

Vacation Bible School
