School Notes

Cary students compete

Cary High School NJROTC competed against 24 teams from the Carolinas in the Regional Championship Brain Brawl. The team’s members are the 2015 Brain Brawl Academic Champions for Area 6. Team members include Alex Hill, Brenden Jobe and Brendan Kearns. Brendan Kearns won the Individual Brain Brawl Competition.

Teacher of the Year

Wake County Public School System’s Teacher of the Year selection committee has nominated local teachers as semi-finalists for the award: Juli Betts of West Cary Middle School, Denise Dent of Turner Creek Elementary School, Janet Glasgow of Holly Ridge Elementary School, Susan Holland of Reedy Creek Middle School, Michelle LeRoy of Penny Road Elementary School, Ruth McCoy of Fuquay-Varina High School, Karla Nantz of Cary High School and Matthew Scialdone of Middle Creek High School.

‘Legally Blonde’

Green Hope High School students will present “Legally Blonde” March 6 and 7 at 7:30 p.m., March 8 at 4 p.m., and March 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the school auditorium at 2500 Carpenter Upchurch Road, Cary.

Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for students and children at www.greenhopefinearts.org. Tickets cost $12 for adults and $8 for students and children at the door.

Curriculum fair

Green Hope High School will host a curriculum fair for rising sophomores, juniors and seniors at 6 p.m. Monday, March 9, in the school auditorium at 2500 Carpenter Upchurch Road, Cary.

‘Legally Blonde Jr.’

Mills Park Middle School Spot-Light Theatre will present “Legally Blonde Jr.” at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 7 p.m. Friday, March 13, and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, March 14, in the school auditorium at 441 Mills Park Drive, Cary. ‘IMProv’

Cary High School students will present “IMProv” shows monthly through May. Shows start at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium at 638 Walnut St., Cary. Shows will be on Thursday, March 19; Friday, April 17; and Friday, May 15. Admission costs $2. For details, go to caryhsperformingarts.com.
