The Cary screens the movie “Crossing Delancey” in advance of the Cary Players’ performance of the play at 2 p.m. at 122 E. Chatham St. Tickets are $5.

First responders dinner
Cary American Legion Post 67 hosts a dinner in honor of Cary’s first responders at 6:15 p.m., followed by the meeting at 7 p.m., at 8523 Chapel Hill Road, Cary.
The group will honor police officers, firefighters and those who work in emergency medical services. Veterans and active duty military are also invited. 919-469-3010.
Larry Perkins, vice president and assistant general manager of PNC Arena and the Carolina Hurricanes, will read from his memoir, “Buck Seventy Two: A Destiny of Will,” at Daniel’s Restaurant & Catering, 1430 W. Barefoot to Bare Feet
At the Apex Friendship High School and Holly Springs High School basketball quad game at 4 p.m. at 7801 Humie Olive Road, Apex Friendship High School men’s and women’s coaches and assistants will coach a game in bare feet to raise awareness and donations for Samaritan’s Feet.
Samaritan’s Feet provides new shoes for children who need them around the world. The event’s organizers are trying to collect 1,000 pairs of shoes. Admission is $5. Bring a pair of new athletic shoes and a bag of socks. For each donated pair of shoes, you will receive a raffle ticket.
A reception for portraits and abstract artwork by Christine Morris in pastels, paint and mixed media is 6-9 p.m. at Artistic Expressions, 118 Raleigh St., Fuquay-Varina.
