Cary lunch concerts
Chris Overstreet, a classic rock musician, will perform from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Cary downtown lunch concert. Free concerts will be held every Thursday in May on the lawn of the Ivey-Ellington House, 135 W. Chatham St. Picnic tables are provided.
Learning at the Library

Book signing
Cary resident Leon Capetanos, a screenwriter and director, will sign copies of his novel, “The Time Box,” at 7 p.m., Friday, May 20, at Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 760 SE Maynard Road, Cary. The book is a coming-of-age story about a 12-year-old boy learning life’s lessons. Capetanos is credited for writing screenplays for “Down and Out in Beverly Hills” and “Fletch Lives.”
Family Dance
Traditional dance caller Connie Carringer will teach dances for all ages from 7-9 p.m. at the Halle Cultural Arts Center, 237 N. Salem St., Apex. Live, old-time string band music will be provided by local musicians for the dances, which will feature Square, Circle, Appalachian and other traditional styles. No experience or partner required. Frankie Yankovic Day

Bike Rodeo
The Kids Bike Rodeo is 9 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of the new Holly Springs Police Station, 750 Holly Springs Road. The Holly Springs Rotary Club and the Holly Springs Police Department are co-hosting the event for children ages 3-15.
A skill-building obstacle course will be featured. Riders also can have their bikes inspected and adjusted for free. Participants should bring their bikes, helmets and any other safety gear, such as knee and elbow pads. An injury waiver form signed by a parent is required. Longleaf Festival
The seventh annual Longleaf Festival is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Harris Lake County Park, 2112 County Park Drive, New Hill. Learn about the life of the longleaf pine tree through music, live animal exhibits, games, crafts, wagon rides and more.
The new exhibit, “The Greatest Naval Stores Show on Earth,” will feature live demonstrations beginning at 10 a.m. on how the trees have been used to produce tar, pitch and turpentine.
