William Osborne Jones, MD, 79, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 21, 2012 at Heartfields Assited Living in Cary.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 23 from 7-9 pm @ Greenwood Forest Baptist Church, a family burial on Thursday morning and a Celebration of Life Service on Thursday May 24 @ 2pm @ GFBC with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall.
He was born on August 18, 1932 in Henderson, NC to the late Osborne Carrol Jones and Ruth Lanier Jones. He graduated from Henderson High School and attended Duke University and UNC-CH for his undergraduate and medical degrees respectively. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Bobby and his precious granddaughter Jennifer Grace Page.
Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Frances Dixon Jones and his 5 children, Will Jones and wife Mary of Greensboro, Kathy Melvin and husband Phil of Lillington, Dino Page and husband Gregg of Greensboro, Tommy Jones of Greensboro, Jenny Boucher and husband Jeff of Cary. Also his grandchildren, Hannah (Chad), Bradley, Jackie, Michael, Wade, Joshua, Tommy, Rebekah, Kaitlyn, Even and Landon, whom he found great pleasure in and will be remembered fondly by as "Daddy J". He founded Cary Pediatrics Center in 1974 and in addition served the medical needs of the community as a volunteer team physician for Cary High School and was elected to their sports hall of fame in 2000. He served as Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Wake Med and also taught as a Clinicial Professor of Pediatrics at the UNC School of Medicine. Bill was an active member and served faithfuly at Greenwood Forest Baptist Church and was involved with Bible Study Fellowship where he was a small group leader. He will also be remembered for his love of tennis, woodworking and baking.
