Marlene was the daughter of the late Arthur Cooke & the late Rachel Craft Cooke of Saugerties, NY. She was a graduate of Saugerties High School, Saugerties, NY. Marlene “Cookie” Althiser passed away at the age of 74 after a long fourteen year battle with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and acute myeloid leukemia which she bravely fought with her strong will, incredible courage and amazing grace. Through this time she taught us many lessons of selflessness, perseverance and joy in the midst of pain. She was a loving, caring and giving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, John Arthur Althiser of Cary, NC (formerly of Saugerties, NY), and two daughters: Laurie Althiser Baker of Raleigh, NC and Heidi Lynn Judd of Cary, NC. Also her son-in-law Roderick Llewellyn Judd and granddaughters Jessica Madison and Jasmyn Llayne of Cary, NC, her sister Judith Cooke Lovell of Ipswich, MA and brother Steve Cooke of Saugerties, NY, extended family and many assorted four legged grand furries! In keeping with “Cookie’s” wishes, there will be a small, private family gathering followed by an American Red Cross Blood Drive in Cary, NC- date, time and location TBD.
