Leo Dixon Pegram, 80, of Cary, died Monday, January 7, 2013 at WakeMed Cary Hospital.
Leo was born September 5, 1932 in Chatham County, NC to the late Louis and Mary Pegram. He was a graduate of Apex High School and was employed with the NC Department of Transportation, retiring with 40 years of service. Leo was involved with basketball and football officiating for 43 years with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association. He was a Cary Band Booster President and was involved in Little League Baseball and other local sports programs. Leo was a charter member of Greenwood Forest Baptist Church.
Leo was preceded in death by sister, Myrtle Prince; and brother, James Pegram.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jennie Pegram; sons, Wayne Pegram of Atlanta, GA; Ron Pegram of Apex; Jerry Pegram of Winter Garden, FL; daughter, Sheri Pegram of Charlotte; seven grandchildren, Austin, Ethan, Hannah, Jori, Justin, Melissa, and Teagan; brother, Eddie Pegram; sisters, Marie Evans and Sue Coggins.

A celebration of his life will be held 11am Friday, January 11, 2013 at Greenwood Forest Baptist Church. The family will receive friends 6-8pm Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Rd, Cary, NC 27511.
