Joshua David McLean, 38, of New Hill, passed serenely from this earth at home on May 22, 2016 after a brief and sudden illness. He was surrounded by his loving family.A Raleigh native, Joshua graduated from UNC-CH in 1999 with a major in English. In keeping with the family tradition, he served the church in his employment as a Director of Communications at Fellowship of Christ Presbyterian Church in Cary.In a world that often encourages conformity, Joshua stood out as a cerebral, gifted individualist. He was blessed with the rare abilities of a “Renaissance man.” He particularly appreciated the written word and was a connoisseur of fine literature, foreign languages (including Latin), classical music and the sciences. Joshua had a deep and abiding faith in the Lord, nourished from childhood on. He was a most loyal friend and family member, with his wife and children especially being the “apple of his eye”.He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Dr. Rev. David McLean,Sr. and Anne McLean; grandfather, Bryce Iley; and aunt, Cheryl Lindstrom. He is survived by his wife Tara Sosdian McLean and children Isabella, Tristan and Aurelia; parents Rev. David McLean, Jr. and Sheila McLean; brother Jeremy McLean (Kendra); sister Kristen Ligotino (Benjamin); brother David McLean III (Georgia); grandmother Dr. Martha Iley; aunts Deborah Hodde (Richard) and Stephanie Salb (Daniel); his “adopted” Romanian sister Teodora Marincu; and many nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom will miss him terribly. In fitting Highland Scottish tradition, Joshua’s life will be celebrated at a memorial service on May 26 2016 from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian Church in Cary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for the care of his family payable to Fellowship of Christ Presbyterian Church, 1788 Kildaire Farm Road, Cary, NC 27511, designated for Tara McLean and children.
