Marie Prevatte Chiotakis, 92, of Cary, formerly of Morehead City, NC, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family.Marie was born in Jacksonville, FL, to the late Grover Cleveland Prevatte and Minnie Leona Brown Prevatte.She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Lt.Col. (Retired) Vacilios A. (Bill) Chiotakis; brother, Ernest G. Prevatte; sister, Capitola P. Hopkins; and her dear special companion, Hal G. Walker.Marie is survived by her son: Tony (Karen) Chiotakis of Cary; daughters: Suzanne Chiotakis of Warrenton and Kathleen (Wayne) Brooks of New Bern; grandchildren: Sarah (Derek) Moore of Newport; Katie DeGrace of Garner; Nick Chiotakis (fiancée Amber Hartsoe) of Atlantic Beach; Oliver (Beth) Brooks of Denver, CO; Stephen French (fiancée Jessica Hall) of Chapel Hill; great grandchildren: Kellen, Anderson and Everett; numerous nieces and nephews; many wonderful friends; and close long time friend, Lou Beaman of Greenville.Following her years as a military wife, Marie was Executive Secretary at Koppers Company in Morrisville, NC, and a member of WIC (Women in Construction) until her retirement to Morehead City. She was a volunteer with: Carteret General Hospital Auxiliary, Carriage Crossing HOA; and member of the Fisherettes. Marie was an avid bowler, bridge player, reader, crossword solver and loved to fish off the Oceanna Pier at Atlantic Beach and at various spots in the area while aboard her beloved “Misstook”.A memorial for Marie will be held in Morehead City at a later date.Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army and the Wounded Warriors Foundation.The family would like to thank Transitions LifeCare for their care and support.Condolences may be sent to <a href="http://www.ApexFuneral.net" target="_new">www.ApexFuneral.net</a>
