Katherine McKinley: Thanks to town of Apex

Thanks to Apex

Over the past year, the Town of Apex has done a wonderful job of improving neighborhood and pedestrian safety along Old Apex Road and N. Salem Street between Laura Duncan and Salem Church roads.

They have fixed cracked and uneven sidewalks, added streetlights around Candun Drive and along Old Apex Road and now regularly maintain the trees along the sidewalk by pruning as necessary.

As residents along this section of roadway, we have watched pedestrian and bike traffic increase steadily along with vehicular traffic over the past few years with the arrival of the Laurel Park Elementary School and surrounding new homes and neighborhoods. Along with the increased foot traffic came increased safety concerns with the darkness in that area, the uneven sidewalks, and trees that obscured line of sight.

It was such a delight to see how the Town responded so quickly to requests for these improvements, and they should be commended and thanked for doing this on our behalf.
