Diehl: Morrisville should focus on farmers market and veterans memorial

Park priorities in Morrisville

To the vast of majority of Morrisville residents, the Western Wake Farmers Market and the Veterans’ Memorial are more important than Northwest Park.

Northwest Park will only serve a small portion of one neighborhood at the cost of almost $2 million. It is being fast-tracked by the Town Council. Yet the market and memorial, which will serve all of Morrisville at a fraction of the cost, moves at a snail’s pace.

Where is the council’s priority for what benefits all the citizens? Before the November election, voters should find out where the Town Council candidates stand on the market and memorial.

There is no reason why we can’t have the Farmers Market and Veterans Memorial by the end of this year.

Stephen A. Diehl, former Morrisville Town Council member
