Lazzaro: Cary Council should use local firm for town manager search

Keep money local

Regarding the Aug. 12 article, “Cary Council picks national firm for town manager search process”: I can’t tell you how much I object to the council’s approval of using an outside firm to search and present candidates for manager. What were they thinking?

The $23,000-plus could be better spent contracting a local firm, which has the same ability to search nationally for qualified personnel as any other outside firm while keeping the funds local. Granted, finding the right person for the job is considered challenging. However I’m confident we have the professionalism locally to do the job.

So again, our hard-earned tax dollars leave the town without the approval of the people the council represents.
