Orange County deputies are investigating an early morning home invasion at 4820 U.S. 70, near the Durham county line.
According to a news release, two men forced at least one resident, who was in the front yard, into the home just before 3 a.m. Friday and demanded money from the people inside. One resident was ordered back outside, where he told investigators he was repeatedly kicked.
The suspects did not fire any shots, deputies said, and no one else was injured.
Orange County deputies responding to a call about the incident saw a car leaving a driveway just west of the home and stopped the driver. The driver and the passenger held their hands out the car’s windows, but as deputies approached, they sped off.
Law enforcement officers in Orange, Durham and Wake counties joined the chase before the suspects jumped from the vehicle in Morrisville and fled on foot. State Highway Patrol troopers and K-9 units attempted to track the suspects but lost them.
Investigators recovered the suspects’ car and are looking into that and other leads, officials said. More information will be released as it becomes available, they said.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff’s Office at 919-644-3050 or email Sgt. Clark at firstname.lastname@example.org.
