CHAPEL HILL The Chapel Hill Fire Department will host the national Pink Heals Tour on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
The tour will include pink fire trucks, an expedition and trailer with ribbon statue, a command bus, and the volunteer drivers and staff members. The Chapel Hill Fire Department will also join the tour with Carolina Blue Fire Trucks.
This is the second year that the Chapel Hill community has been a tour stop for the Guardians of the Ribbon Inc. Pink Heals Tour and “Cares Enough to Wear Pink” movement.
Guardians of the Ribbon Inc. is a nonprofit organization that started in 2007 to help people battling cancer with a focus on women and what they mean to us in our daily lives. The organization has a combination of acting and pending 27 chapters and 80 pink fire trucks.
“Guardians of the Ribbon Inc., its Pink Heals Tour, and the ‘Cares Enough to Wear Pink’ program is about our community, our family, our neighbors, and our leaders and how it will help bring us back together to focus on our own people now, rather than on promises that were never kept, opportunities that were lost, and things that might have been,” said president Dave Graybill.
The beginning of the tour includes a visit to the UNC Lineberger's NC Cancer Hospital where firefighters will visit with patients and deliver flowers and show their love and support for those in our community who are battling with cancer.
