Bikram Yoga Chapel Hill will open a 3,295-square-foot studio at Greenbridge Condominiums in April. Bikram Yoga Chapel Hill owners Andrea and Ralph Newman said they were attracted to the Greenbridge site because of its central location, walkability in Chapel Hill and the buildings eco-friendly design.
Strata Solar has established headquarters in Governors Village. Founded in 2009, the solar energy company provides turn-key solar solutions, offering project development, engineering, procurement, construction, operations, maintenance and financing services to businesses large and small. According to Strata Solar Co-Founder Cathy Wilhelm, the company brings 100 jobs to Chatham County at its headquarters, warehouse and solar farm.
After 10 years in Chapel Hill, Minta Bell Design Group has moved to Durham’s Hamilton Centre. Owner Minta Bell said the new location will centrally serve Durham, Raleigh and Chapel Hill. The move leaves an opening at Chapel Hill’s Meadowmont.
140 West Franklin has welcomed Eye Care Center, a full-service optometrist. Opening last year, 140 West Franklin is a mixed-use development of residential and retail spaces in the heart of downtown Chapel Hill on West Franklin Street.

Hillsborough Pharmacy as Business of the Year; Kate Carroll of Radius Pizzeria and Pub as Business Person of the Year; and, Tori Reid of Right at Home the Helping Hand Award.
Kalisher, a Carrboro-headquartered provider of fine art prints for private collections, hotels and medical facilities, named Jon Cochran as marketing and development director.

Carolina Crossroads Restaurant at the Carolina Inn has received a Forbes Four-Star rating for 2014. This marks the 14th straight year that the restaurant has received the honor, and is one of only two North Carolina restaurants awarded four stars by the Forbes Travel Guide. Executive Chef James Clark describes the restaurants offerings as contemporary Southern, with a strong emphasis on the use of local fresh sustainable ingredients.
Carrboro’s Spotted Dog Restaurant & Bar has been listed for sale with the National Restaurant Properties. The unique flat iron brick building wedged between Main and Weaver streets has housed the restaurant since 1998. Owners Linda Bourne and Karin Mills have decided to retire after a successful tenure offering an eclectic menu of vegetarian, healthy and organic options. The Spotted Dog remains open for business during this period of transition.
Two Hillsborough restaurateurs have joined together to launch La Place, a venture expected to open early this year. Joe Tullos and Matt Fox will offer authentic Louisiana and regional cuisine in the space previously occupied by Gulf Rim Cafe on Churton Street. Gulf Rim Cafe owner Tullos and the Wooden Nickels Fox will be joined by Craig Claycomb (formerly of Chapel Hill’s Kipos) and Derrick Smith (Hillsborough’s Wooden Nickel) in the launch. Tullos, a native of La Place, La., will add a charcuterie and house-made sausages to La Place staples from his Southern hometown.
