Nicole Hurd

of Chapel Hill, founder and CEO of College Advising Corps, was recently recognized by The Chronicle of Higher Education as a 2014 Influencer. She was recognized for her work with College Advising Corps, as the organization strives to provide disadvantaged students with college advising that would be available to students at wealthier institutions.

Walter A. Horton,

chief of police of the Town of Carrboro, recently completed the Leading for Results course as a Local Government Federal Credit Union Fellow at UNC’s School of Government.

John Atwater

of Northwood High has been selected as a semifinalist for the Morehead-Cain Scholarship. With less than 20 percent of nominees advancing to his level, Atwater will move on to the regional interviews in January.
