The League of Women Voters of Orange, Durham and Chatham counties will host a discussion on sexual assault on college campuses from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, in meeting room B of the Chapel Hill Public Library, 100 Library Drive. Rebecca Gibson of the Durham Crisis Response Center will speak. The talk is open to anyone. Bring your own lunch.

Optimist Club

The Optimist Club of Chapel Hill meets at 5:30 p.m. on the first, second and third Wednesdays of the month at the Bob Evans restaurant, 5419 Chapel Hill Blvd., Durham. New members are welcome.

Lupus support group

Overeaters Anonymous

Overeaters Anonymous will meet from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Thursdays at Carrboro United Methodist Church, 200 Hillsborough Road. The group meets in the white building beside the main church building, directly across from Looking Glass Cafe.

Town hall

Chapel Hill Town Councilman Lee Storrow will host a town hall meeting at 5:30 p.m. at the Chapel Hill Public Library, 100 Library Drive.

Chess Club

Chess players are invited to the Orange County Main Library from 6-7 p.m. Thursdays on the second floor of the library at 137 W. Margaret Lane, Hillsborough. If you plan to time games, bring your own clock or timer. Ages 10 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Survivors of Disasters Support Group

A support group for survivors of fire and other disasters meets from 6-7 p.m. the second Thursday of every month in Building Three at the American Red Cross, Central NC Chapter, 4737 University Drive. 919-489-6541 ext. 337 or 333.

Poetry event

Farmers’ markets

The Chapel Hill Farmers’ Market is open from 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday at 201 S. Estes Drive.

The Carrboro Farmers’ Market is open from 9 a.m. to noon in the Carrboro Town Commons, beside Town Hall at 301 W. Main St.

Prompt writing

Author Nancy Peacock will lead a free prompt writing class from 10 a.m. to noon every second Saturday at Flyleaf Books, 725 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. flyleafbooks.com.
