Caregivers support group

Strowd Roses hosts a celebration of the rose blooming season in the Gene Strowd Community Rose Garden on Thursday at 120 S. Estes Drive, Chapel Hill. David V.B. Pike, president of Witherspoon Rose Culture, will speak from 10-11 a.m. Muriel Williman of the Orange County Solid Waste Management Department will talk about composting at home at the compost demonstration site behind the garden. strowdroses.org.

Overeaters Anonymous

Overeaters Anonymous will meet from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Thursdays at Carrboro United Methodist Church, 200 Hillsborough Road. The group meets in the white building beside the main church building, directly across from Looking Glass Cafe.

Chess Club

Chess players are invited to the Orange County Main Library from 6-7 p.m. Thursdays on the second floor of the library at 137 W. Margaret Lane, Hillsborough. If you plan to time games, bring your own clock or timer. Ages 10 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Carolina Mountain Dulcimers

The Chapel Hill Farmers’ Market is open from 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday at 201 S. Estes Drive.

Car show

The 26th annual Piedmont Classic Chevy Club Made in the USA Car Show will open with registration from 8 a.m. to noon at Lake Wheeler Park, 6404 Lake Wheeler Road, Raleigh. Registration costs $20 and proceeds benefit Raleigh’s Hilltop Home. piedmontccc.org.
