Robert Clark Rutherford, 60, of Carrboro, NC died Friday, November 7, 2014 in San Francisco, CA. from complications of lung cancer and heart problems. He is survived by his former wife Sara Claytor of Carrboro and his parents Robert and Eleanor Rutherford of Harbor Springs, MI; siblings Cynthia Rutherford of Harbor Springs, MI; John Rutherford of Chelsea, MI; and Andrea Rutherford of Santa Rosa, CA; six nieces; two great-nieces; and two great-nephews.
A Michigan native, Bob attended Eastern Michigan University as a fine arts major. He worked for Jiffy Foods for 12 years, lived in San Francisco on and off and then Montana, and NC. He honed his carpentry skills by building from scratch his own home in MI and then a log cabin on 40 acres near Livingston, Montana. He was also a musician, artist and writer, establishing and maintaining an Internet magazine The Moonwart Review for 6 years. A voracious reader, especially of mysteries and crime detective novels, Bob also enjoyed fishing, cooking, and gardening.
His ashes will be returned to Harbor Springs, MI for a family memorial.
