Miriam Jeanne Rickert, a resident of Pittsboro Christian Village for 4 years, died at the age 93 on July 23, 2016. Miriam was born in New York and was a homemaker and served in her church. She and her husband, Walter J. Rickert, moved to Chapel Hill in 1976 to be closer to their family. Miriam was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she served on the pastoral care team and was involved in the quilting ministry. She was a Stephen Minister and a Hospice volunteer. Miriam was predeceased by her parents, Herman and Hertha Kaeppel, and her husband, Walter J. Rickert. She is survived by two daughters: Lynne O’Neill (John) of Chapel Hill, Barbara Shearin (Daryl) of Cleveland TN. Also surviving are three grandchildren: Heather Shows (Ken), John-Michael O’Neill (Lisa), Megan O’Neill (Alex Eilhauer) and 5 great-grandchildren: Lucy Shows, Kate and Nora O’Neill, Colin and Faye Eilhauer. The family would like to thank the Care Home staff of Pittsboro Christian Village for the loving and compassionate care they provided Miriam. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to: Pittsboro Christian Village (Benevolence) 1825 East Street, Pittsboro, NC 27312 or Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (Quilters) 300 E. Rosemary Street, Chapel Hill, NC 27514. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Chapel Hill, at 11:00 AM, on Friday, August 5th.
