Catherine Romaine of Chapel Hill High School has been named an Academic All-American by the National High School Coaches Association for the 2013-2014 school year.
The selections, the NHSCA's 21st annual class of All-Americans, comprise 121 student athletes from 27 states and eight different sports. They averaged a 3.9 GPA, with 31 All Americans coming in with a 4.0 GPA or better.
“These student athletes are leaders in and out of the classroom and are the future leaders of tomorrow. We are very proud to deem them as Academic All Americans for 2014, stated Bobby Ferraro, Executive Director of the NHSCA.
Romaine, a 6-2 center for Chapel Hill's undefeated state champion girls basketball team, has a 5.0 GPA and scored a 33 on her ACT exam. She was named to the 3A All State Team in 2013 and voted the East Regional Tournaments MVP and the Most Outstanding Player in the 3A state championship.
Also an all-star volleyball player for Chapel Hill High School, Romaine will attend Bucknell University in the fall and will join the Bison basketball program.
