Adams Parrish joins Matthews Motors

Adam Parrish has joined the sales staff at Matthews Motors, 11315 U.S. 70 Business, Clayton. Parrish is a graduate of Clayton High School, where he played basketball and baseball for four years. He also played basketball at Wake Technical Community College.

“The people down here are absolutely outstanding,” Parrish said of his coworkers. “They’re down to earth and at the same time highly motivated to seeing that everyone has a memorable experience when they come see us at Matthews Motors.”

Physical therapist joins Access staff

Physical therapist Britanee Zebrowsky has joined the staff of Access Physical Therapy and Wellness in Suite 300 at 8838 U.S. 70 Business, Clayton. A graduate of Duke University, she has been a certified strength and conditioning specialist since 2013. Her interests are chronic pain conditions and individualized treatment of spinal conditions.

Economic update on luncheon menu

The Johnston County Association of Chambers of Commerce will hold its 2014 Economic Development Luncheon at noon Wednesday, Aug. 27, at the Agricultural Center, 2736 N.C. 210, Smithfield.

Economic-development consultant Ted Abernathy and Johnston County’s economic-development director, Chris Johnson, will talk about the county’s new economic-development plan. Also, they will give an update on the local economy.

Notary public – 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Kenly Center, 408 S. College Ave., Kenly; 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Benson Conference Center, 303 E. Church St., Benson; 6-9 p.m. Nov. 17-18 at the Cleveland Center, 9046 Cleveland Road; and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Workforce Development Center. The fee is $70, and the required textbook is available in the JCC bookstore on the Smithfield campus, 245 College Road.

Electronic notarization – 1-5 p.m. Sept. 5 at the Johnston County Workforce Development Center, 135 Bestwood Drive, Clayton. The class will instruct existing notaries in the new requirement for performing electronic notarization. The $70 fee includes the textbook.

Excel Level I – 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Johnston County Workforce Development Center, 135 Bestwood Drive, Clayton. In this introduction to spreadsheets, businesspeople will learn how to create and modify a basic workbook. The fee is $71.

Publisher I – 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Johnston County Workforce Development Center, 135 Bestwood Drive, Clayton. Learn how to create professional documents. The fee is $71.

Quickbooks – 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 6 in Room 1033 at the Johnston County Workforce Development Center, 135 Bestwood Drive, Clayton. Topics include setting up the company file; customizing templates; setting up customers and vendors; creating invoices, receiving payment and making deposits; entering and paying bills; and reconciling bank, credit card and loan accounts. The fee is $125.

Understanding and Motivating Others in the Workplace – 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 18 in Room 1032 at the Johnston County Workforce Development Center, 135 Bestwood Drive, Clayton. Learn how to recognize, apprecaite and make effective use of the differences in people you work with. The fee is $125.
