JCC has supporters over for breakfast

Johnston Community College and the Johnston County Chambers of Commerce hosted a breakfast for 150 business and community leaders Feb. 21 on the main campus in Smithfield.

Pierce Group Benefits, BB&T, First Citizens Bank, Four Oaks Bank, and KS Bank sponsored the event, which focused on celebrating partnerships. The JCC Foundation recognized 37 individuals, businesses, and industries that contributed to the 30 for 30 fundraising campaign in celebration of the foundation’s 30th anniversary. The campaign raised more than $70,000 for the College and its programs, said JCC spokeswoman, Traci D. Ashley.

Caterpillar, Inc. and Smithfield Manor, Inc. received the school’s 2012 Business and Industry Partner awards.

Tom Little co-owner, franchisee, and managing partner of several Zaxby’s restaurants in the area gave the keynote address. Little, who is a foundation supporter, asked the attendees to encourage their employees to give back and get involved in the community.
