The Woman’s Club of Clayton has announced the student winners in its Art Competition and Festival.
Thirty-nine first-place student winners received cash awards, and 30 second-place winners received ribbons in three categories – arts, crafts and photography. A performing-arts competition was also part of the festival, with students competing in music, drama and public speaking.
The event drew 108 entries from Archer Lodge Middle School, Clayton Middle, Riverwood Middle, Clayton High, Cleveland High, Corinth Holders High and home schools.
A crowd of nearly 100 attended the reception, jointly sponsored by Clayton Visual Arts and the Woman’s Club of Clayton.
Club member entries were on display too, with the winners to be announced at the group’s January meeting. Ribbons will go to first and second places.
First-place student and club winners advance to Woman’s Club district art competition, slated for Feb. 6 in Clayton. First-place winners on the district level go to the state competition, set for March 12 at Campbell University in Buies Creek.
Art by the students and club members is on display this month at The Clayton Center, 111 E. Second St., Clayton. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Woman’s Club Arts Competition and Festival is an annual event.
