Book club hears Christian author
Christian author Lisa Carter of Raleigh spoke at the November meeting of Clayton’s Felicia Book Club.
Blending inspirational Southern and Native American fiction, Carter writes what is known in literary circles as “Sweet Tea with a Slice of Murder.” Her latest release is “Under a Turquoise Sky.” She is the author of two previous romantic suspense novels, “Carolina Reckoning” and “Beneath a Navajo Moon.”
Her book “Aloha Rose” is a contemporary romance in the “Quilts Of Love” series. Another suspense novel, “Vines of Entanglement,” is scheduled for release in February 2015.

A former teacher with a master’s degree in history, Carter has also been a real estate agent, helped her husband in his graphic-design business and written newsletters for preschools and churches. She has published articles in Family Fun, Thriving Family, MomSense and Christian Parenting Today.
Carter talked to the club about her varied experiences. After retiring, she attended writing workshops, conferences and literary symposiums. In a sharing session, someone who had contacts in the publishing business encouraged her to submit her work. Her surprise was that she received a reply and acceptance.
A native of Wake County, she grew up just across the Johnston-Wake County line and visited Clayton often. She and her husband have two daughters.
