Cleveland’s Emily Truelove to play soccer for Charlotte

Why Charlotte? “I really liked the coaches a lot. It’s in a great location, the right size school for me. I’m going to be a part of a good soccer program.”

Notable: Emily has been a standout left forward for the Rams for the past three seasons and is one of the most prolific scorers in the state. Entering her senior season she has 141 career goals and 69 career assists. Her junior season she notched a career high in goals with 57. She had 28 assists as a freshman. … She will follow her Cleveland High coach — Marissa DeMarco — into the 49ers’ program. DeMarco also played her college ball in the Queen city. … Even with all of the achievements, the high school match that stands out most in Emily’s mind is a 2014 loss to West Johnston. “It’s always a big game and I felt like that one was one of the best games I’ve ever played, even though we lost in overtime,” she said. … Improving her speed, stamina and mental toughness are goals for her entering her final prep season and getting ready for college soccer.
