Garner Civitan Football

Registration for Garner Civitan Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading for ages 5-15 will be held July 7 and July 9 from 6-8 p.m. at 1005 Poole Road. The fee is $175 for Garner residents, $200 for others. A copy of the child's birth certificate is required at registration. Info:

West Johnston Wildcat Club Golf Outing

The annual Wildcat Club golf tournament to benefit the West Johnston High School athletics programs will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 17, at Reedy Creek Golf Club. The fee is $60 per person or $240 for a team and includes all golf fees, prize eligibility and meals. Hole sponsorships are also available. State Wiffle Ball Tournament

The 27th Annual state Wiffle Ball Championships will be held July 18-19 at Smithfield Community Park. The entry fee for the 4-on-4 event is $80. Bats and balls will be provided, as well as umpires. Bulldog Golf Classic

The inaugural Bulldog Classic Golf Tournament, a three-person superball golf tournament to benefit the Princeton High School football program will be held on Friday, July 24, at the Cardinal Country Club in Selma. The event features a 1 p.m. shotgun start and the entry fee is $180 per team. Included will be a putting challenge, longest drive, closest to the pin, hole-in-one and par-3 birdie awards, awards for the top teams and a post-round dinner. Info: Travis Gaster at 919-369-7685 or

Piedmont Bass Classics tournaments

The Piedmont Bass Classics tournament trail fishing tournaments have been set for the season. Events are held at Shearon Harris, Jordan, Kerr, Falls and Mayo lakes. Visit or email for more info.

2015 Horse Show Series

The Johnston County Horse Show Series offers fun and exciting shows while still maintaining a down home atmosphere that encourages family participation. The shows, mostly held at the Johnston County Livestock Arena near Smithfield, are open shows that welcome riders and horses/mules from all riding levels, breeds and disciplines. JCHSS offers classes in Halter, Western, Working Western, Hunters & Jumping, Dressage Suitability, Trail, Miniature equines, Driving and English. Classes are placed through eighth place with 21 championship divisions per show. Show dates for 2015 are May 31, June 27, Sept. 19, Oct. 31 and Nov. 14. Tarheel Seniors Golf Association

The Tarheel Seniors Golf Association will hold 16 events this year across the area this spring and summer with events at The Neuse, River Ridge, Falls Village, Bentwinds, 12 Oaks, Zebulon Country Club, Lochmere, Devils Ridge and Eagle Ridge.
